Furthermore, he conducted his medical research fellowship in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Florida (2003), where he also completed an additional fellowship in minimally invasive bariatric surgery in 2010. In addition, Dr. Higa received board certification in general surgery from the American Board of general Surgery. A fellow of the American College of Surgeon, he remains an active member of the American College of Surgeons, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal & Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
